Hyper Text Markup Language has evolved a lot ever since its first version was launched in the market to be used by the web designers. The W3C after launching 4 versions has recently launched the fifth version of HTML. In the earlier version the web designer could provide only limited structure to the web design. The HTML5 allows the web designer to offer more structure to the web design. The elements and the semantic tags of HTML5 help to create legible and cleaner tags. Some of the prominent tags in HTML5 that have made a big difference in designing of the website are as follows.
• Nav: The Nav tag is for navigation. When there is a part of a page to be linked to another part of the page or another page the linking is done through the Nav tag. The list form is not mandatory in the Nav tag. The navigation section can be a paragraph tag or even a prose.
• Aside: The content of the page that is not related to the main content of the page can be place on the side with the help of the Aside tag. The information in the Aside tag is sometimes found to be very useful by the visitor.
• Address: Most of the time it is necessary to mention the physical address of the business on the web page. This objective is achieved through the use of Address tag.
• Header: The elements that help navigation and help to introduce any section of a page are placed on the top of the page and within the header tag. Since the header tag features on the top of the page is usually the first to be seen by the visitor it should be given a lot of importance.
• Article: The content of the page that can stand independently is called the article. The content of the article is independent and can be used in different situations. The header tag, section tag and the division tag are constituent tags of the article. Usually the division tag is the most frequently used tag in any article.
• Section: In a HTML document the generic section is the section element. It is a collection of content based on some them. Though not mandatory it can have a heading. The section heading should be used if and only if it has been referred to in the outline of the documents. The designer should not use the Section tag for styling the web design. In this case it is better to use the tag for division.
• Footer: The contents that need to feature at the bottom of the page are usually presented within the footer tag.
• Hgroup: The heading of the content is embedded in the website through the Hgroup tag. The variation allowed varies from H1 to H6 and this allows even the subheadings to be coded in this Hgroup tag.
