PHP websites unlike a static HTML website, runs only on a server. WordPress was built using php as a server side scripting language. In order to install WordPress \u00a0in your local machine you need to install a server.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Installing WAMP:<\/strong><br \/>\nWAMP is a server that runs on Windows platform. The acronym\u00a0<em>WAMP stands for<\/em><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 21px;\"><strong>\u00a0 W<\/strong>indows(Operating system), \u00a0<strong>A<\/strong>pache(The actual server), <strong>M<\/strong>ySQL(database) and \u00a0<strong>P<\/strong>HP(server side scripting language).<br \/>\n<\/span>Now i will explain \u00a0installing WAMP server and \u00a0WordPress, step by step.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1 :<br \/>\n<\/strong>Download WAMP server from <a title=\"WAMP\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wampserver.com\/en\/download.php\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Installing WAMP is an easy task.Just double click on the downloaded file and \u00a0follow the instructions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3:<br \/>\n<\/strong>After the installation, You can see a \u2018W\u2019 icon in system tray as well as a \u00a0folder named \u2018wamp\u2019 in your\u00a0\u00a0C: drive(Assuming your primary drive is C\u00a0 ).You can start \u00a0WAMP from the start menu. Now navigate to the path \u00a0C:wampwww.\u00a0The WordPress installation files should reside in this file path i.e inside the \u2018www\u2019 folder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Download WordPress from <a title=\"WordPress\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.\u00a0Unzip the WordPress folder \u00a0inside the \u2018www\u2019 directory.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 5<strong>:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong>Now you need to create a database, in order to install WordPress. Open your favorite browser and type this in the address bar \u00a0<strong>localhost\/phpmyadmin.\u00a0<\/strong>php myadmin interface will look like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/logeshkumar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/phpmyadmin.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-288\" title=\"phpmyadmin\" src=\"http:\/\/logeshkumar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/phpmyadmin-300x146.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"146\" \/><\/a>Type your desired database name in\u00a0the <strong>create new database<\/strong> field.Then click the <strong>create<\/strong>\u00a0button<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>! important:<\/strong>These are the configuration info you need, to install WordPress.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Database name -The one you created in the above step.<\/li>\n<li>Database username -The default\u00a0<strong>user name<\/strong>\u00a0for WAMP is\u00a0<strong>root<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Database password-you can either leave the password as blank or you can set a password by navigating to\u00a0<strong>privileges\u00a0<\/strong>tab in php-myadmin interface, then scroll down to see the change password section.<\/li>\n<li>Database host-Your database host is <strong>localhost.<br \/>\n<\/strong>Now make a note of the above four things in a text file, before you proceed to the 7th step.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Step 6<strong>:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong>You have successfully created a database. Now open your browser and navigate to the location of \u00a0WordPress folder\u00a0i.e <strong>localhost\/wordpress <\/strong>(assuming you haven\u2019t changed the folder name. You can have any name for the folder, but you need to specify the same \u00a0name instead of wordpress in the URL).\u00a0Now you will be asked to Create a configuration file<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>Just click on it to proceed to next page.In the next page you will be asked to fill the configuration info.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 7<strong>:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong>Now in the next page, replace the default values, with the one you have in the text file. Leave the table prefix as it is. Then click submit. Now if you have done everything perfectly, you will see the same message shown in this screenshot. Then click the run and install button to proceed to next page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/logeshkumar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/wp.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-289\" title=\"wp\" src=\"http:\/\/logeshkumar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/wp-300x95.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"95\" \/><\/a>Instead if you receive \u00a0an error message, \u00a0there is something wrong with your database info. Check \u00a0whether \u00a0your database name, username, password and host info are correct. Then proceed again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 8:<br \/>\n<\/strong>In the next page, you will be prompted to set the Site Title, Username, Password and E-mail. Fill all the info and\u00a0click install WordPress. It will tell that you have successfully installed WordPress. Now \u00a0log in to view the\u00a0WordPress dashboard.
